A large anti-Enbridge rally against the Northern Gateway Pipeline happened in Victoria last Sunday. Hundreds turned out to the Legislature lawns before taking to the streets to march to Centennial Square. Once at the square, there was an afternoon full of workshops and panel discussions related to the environment, the energy sector, and effective ways to get involved in the debate. I have a confession to make. I love them all best of all. They are all my favorites. I can’t help it. All the babies and children that come to me to get photographed are perfect in their own amazing, individual ways. I can’t help but fall in love with each and every one that walks through the studio doors. William is my favorite because he reminds me of Superman 😉
Rifflandia has done it once again 😉 What an incredible week of awesome shows. I am continually blown away by what a brilliant idea this festival is. 150 some bands, four nights, and one wristband. All for the love of music. Thanks to the organizers for masterminding this extravaganza. This year, I was asked to put together a crew of official photographers so that there would be a photographer stationed at each of the 10 venues every night. I couldn’t of asked for a better team. I spent an incredible week on Salt Spring Island at a Mud Girls Cob Building Workshop. The Mud Girls are about promoting and enabling the construction of natural building (mostly cob) affordably. A group of about twenty of us came together to live as a community for a week and build a cob cabin. We all camped in a beautiful apple orchard, swam/bathed in the pond, and were treated to three delicious organic meals a day (the chefs were brilliant! mmmmm). I had contacted Alice at the Base Lounge to see if I could rent their gorgeous space for a photo shoot. We worked out the details and Alice asked if I would photograph her family when I was done with the first shoot. Alice is lovely and radiates health and well-being. I was excited about the opportunity to meet and photograph her family. On the day, the natural light poured in and the family magic began 😉

I just had the Lucas family back for another wonderful photo shoot. Philippe’s mother was in town so it was a great chance to capture the magical bond between grandmother and granddaughter. I just love shooting family love; especially when three generations are involved 😉 Little Sophie stole a piece of my heart when I first met her (you can check out our first Lucas family photo here).
