A large anti-Enbridge rally against the Northern Gateway Pipeline happened in Victoria last Sunday. Hundreds turned out to the Legislature lawns before taking to the streets to march to Centennial Square. Once at the square, there was an afternoon full of workshops and panel discussions related to the environment, the energy sector, and effective ways to get involved in the debate. Mother Mother is one of my favorite bands to see live. They bring it every single time with loads of talent, 110% energy, and always with gratitude for the audience and show organizers. I love doing headshot portraits outside in natural light. I find the variety in backgrounds is far more interesting than what I have in the studio. All of these images were created within a one block radius but result in lots of different options to choose from.
Last night in Vic, DJ Champion and his G-Strings took the stage at Sugar. It is impossible for my words to do justice to the killer performance they gave. If they ever stop in your town, GO SEE THEM! They are what live shows are all about. The incredible energy they brought to the stage was infectious and the packed crowd couldn’t get enough. DJ Champion does fabulous builds that take you from a toe tappin’ head bob to a thumping, jumping, super-happy dance. You can’t help it. It just happens. I had the pleasure of photographing a group of adorable children the other day as a thank you to their childcare provider who is moving on to another adventure.
Just after we bought our big old creaky heritage house, I was walking down the sidewalk behind two boys of about 7 and I heard one say to the other “there’s the haunted house” in reference to our dear old home. Every year since, I have wanted to REALLY hauntify it for Halloween but my hours were somehow always filled with other adventures.
