A large anti-Enbridge rally against the Northern Gateway Pipeline happened in Victoria last Sunday. Hundreds turned out to the Legislature lawns before taking to the streets to march to Centennial Square. Once at the square, there was an afternoon full of workshops and panel discussions related to the environment, the energy sector, and effective ways to get involved in the debate. Mother Mother is one of my favorite bands to see live. They bring it every single time with loads of talent, 110% energy, and always with gratitude for the audience and show organizers. So I finally got to meet my darling nephew! My brother, his wife and their 7 month old son Graden live in Singapore which means that their current visit home to Canada marks my first introduction to the CUTEST little boy in the world. I just had the Lucas family back for another wonderful photo shoot. Philippe’s mother was in town so it was a great chance to capture the magical bond between grandmother and granddaughter. Some women glow when they are pregnant. Calico beams. Although I have it on good authority that it is not just when she is pregnant. Calico is one of those people that have you grinning and laughing and loving life. You can’t help it. Her joy just rubs off. Her energy was such a treat to shoot. Another treat was the sweet sweet light that happened upon us as we climbed the hill. Thanks Calico for such a fun evening. I was in Vancouver on Tuesday and thought I’d stop by the track to say hi to a friend and to get some shots of the horses as training begins. Some of the horses were pretty wild getting back out there! I can’t wait to go back in April when the races start. So much fun! I really miss working with horses. It was nice to be around them again, even if it was watching them from afar 😉
It was a fabulous weekend at Organic Islands Festival. There are always lots of great vendors that support and inspire sustainability. The reason I love the festival the most is the incredible speakers that come to share their wealth of knowledge. Percy Schmeiser was the highlight for me at the Festival in 2008.  His story is one to know. He is fighting a battle on our behalf. A battle that’s final outcome will not directly effect his life, but it will effect ours. He is devoting his time, money, life energy and integrity to protect our right to save seeds and…
