Second shooting for the phenomenal Jen Steele.

I first met Jen Steele when I was a bridesmaid in my friend’s wedding and Jen was the photographer. It was the first time that I got to see another wedding photographer in action. Jen was awesome and my friend was thrilled with the images that she captured of her wedding. I got a call recently from Jen because her regular second shooter had hurt his hand and she needed someone to fill in for one of her weddings. It was my first experience second shooting and I have to say it was pretty fun to step back and work for a different boss for a change ;pΒ  Jen is so great to work with and her images are top notch. She also does incredible boudoir photography that I am trying to get the guts up to hire her for. Guts up? Maybe guts in.

Thanks for a great day, Jen!

Here are just a few of the images that I took second shooting.

Tessa McLoughlin is a local hero of mine. She possesses not only exceptional vision in regards to arts and community but also the follow through to turn that vision into reality. Last night’s inaugural Club Kwench dinner was a prime example. Club Kwench grew out of Tessa’s belief that happiness comes from many angles and that it is not readymade. “It comes from your own actions. Kwench makes those actions easier by providing you with experiences that encourage and cultivate connection, curiosity, and cooperation.” Last night was a brilliant evening of connection, inspiration, laughter, nourishment, and creativity, which all led…

  • Metric

I want to start with a great big thanks to Atomique for putting on such great shows and making the Victoria music scene what it is. I went down to the Save-On Foods Memorial Centre last night to photograph the Metric show. It was great to finally see them live (well, the first three songs anyway). The difference between shooting musicians in the dawn of their career and those that are really well known is access (obviously). I adore shooting the smaller gigs as you have a lot of freedom to roam, time to get into the groove and, in…

  • Exhibit A

What a great show it was. I feel so fortunate to have connected with all these amazingly talented women photographers for the Exhibit A gallery show. The turnout to the opening was incredible; the gallery was packed from the moment we opened the doors right up until the end. The day that I sat the gallery, it was pretty quiet which allowed me to take a few photos and have some fun πŸ˜‰ The series that I did for this show is called “Modern Portraits of a Heritage Town”. I created abstract art by incorporating movement into my shooting while…

  • A memorable photo shoot with a stunning couple.

I was immediately intrigued when I got a fantastic call from a man named Andrew. He wanted me to go stealth and photograph him proposing to his beautiful (unsuspecting) girlfriend. After the proposal I would come out of hiding to do a photo shoot for a couple hours. He is super romantic and he wanted an over-the-top amazing place for it all to happen. Hatley Castle was just that. Lots of secretive plotting ensued. Really, he had me at stealth πŸ˜‰ Thank you Andrew & Vicky for allowing us to document such an incredibly intimate and awesome day πŸ˜‰ You…

  • The twins

First of all, I would like to give a big shout out to all parents of twins. You are an amazing bunch. I don’t know how you do it πŸ˜‰ Humans have an incredible capacity to deal with whatever is thrown at them (in this case, two remarkably sweet and adorable little boys); but, being the mother of one, there are many days when I feel maxed and I could not even imagine the chaosΒ². All you amazing Moms and Dads out there, give yourselves a pat on your back and a hug to your kids πŸ˜‰
