Second shooting for the phenomenal Jen Steele.

I first met Jen Steele when I was a bridesmaid in my friend’s wedding and Jen was the photographer. It was the first time that I got to see another wedding photographer in action. Jen was awesome and my friend was thrilled with the images that she captured of her wedding. I got a call recently from Jen because her regular second shooter had hurt his hand and she needed someone to fill in for one of her weddings. It was my first experience second shooting and I have to say it was pretty fun to step back and work for a different boss for a change ;pĀ  Jen is so great to work with and her images are top notch. She also does incredible boudoir photography that I am trying to get the guts up to hire her for. Guts up? Maybe guts in.

Thanks for a great day, Jen!

Here are just a few of the images that I took second shooting.

  • Joint Review Panel Hearings in Bella Bella.

After the JRP inappropriately and disrespectfully cancelled the first day and a half of the hearings in Bella Bella, the hearings finally began on Tuesday afternoon. I was so impressed with the poise and resolve of the Heiltsuk people. They refused to be intimidated by the panel’s actions yet they were equally determined to prove the panel’s negative assumptions and prejudices wrong. They were respectful and complied with the panel’s requests in regards to how the hearings should proceed yet they cleverly showed their solidarity in ways that were not forbidden by the panel. A great example of this was…

  • Rifflandia

Rifflandia has done it once again šŸ˜‰ What an incredible week of awesome shows. I am continually blown away by what a brilliant idea this festival is. 150 some bands, four nights, and one wristband. All for the love of music. Thanks to the organizers for masterminding this extravaganza. This year, I was asked to put together a crew of official photographers so that there would be a photographer stationed at each of the 10 venues every night. I couldn’t of asked for a better team. You can check out everyone’s photos in the gallery on the Rifflandia site here….

  • Something about that tutu.

Tutus have never been part of my repertoire. Growing up, I was a horse girl through and through. Which meant that I was usually mucky and smelly. Quite far removed from the delicate loveliness of dance recitals and ballet shoes. So I have never related to the tutu and thus it never occurred to me to put a tutu on a munchkin. But then this little darling showed up wearing one and my heart melted into a little puddle of tutu adoration. Isn’t she scrumptious?

  • Beautiful & Brilliant Bif.

I was pleasantly surprised to see Bif Naked up at the Prince Rupert rally. I had never seen her live before. She has a casual and intimate air about her that made it feel like she was playing for us in her living room. For someone that has had to face some major challenges in her life, it is apparent that she rolls with the punches and comes out smiling. I will definitely try to catch her show again.
