This is part one of a two part series for this scrumptious family. They are avid surfers so part two is going to involve sand, surf and snuggles but we wanted to get some images of the first days at home too. There is something so special about those first couple of weeks of settling in as a family. You enter a cocoon and your entire world exists within the four walls of your house. Hours pass just staring at your baby and nothing feels so rewarding. And the love. Oh the love.

I was in Vancouver on Tuesday and thought I’d stop by the track to say hi to a friend and to get some shots of the horses as training begins. Some of the horses were pretty wild getting back out there! I can’t wait to go back in April when the races start. So much fun! I really miss working with horses. It was nice to be around them again, even if it was watching them from afar 😉

A year ago yesterday I was breathing in great big lungfuls of west coast forest air and marveling at the miracle of life with these two (three) incredible souls. It was a misty, foggy, and soul-rich day which seemed to reflect perfectly the lives of these body boarding, ocean loving, tree-planters. This is the second part of Lilie’s debut photoshoot. You can check out her newborn session here. For this one we headed out to Jordan River on a gorgeous morning at the end of October. Lilie’s parents love spending time on the beach and in the waves and I wanted to capture them in their element. It is always so nice to get out of town and head up our gorgeous coast. Three cheers for beach time!
First of all, I would like to give a big shout out to all parents of twins. You are an amazing bunch. I don’t know how you do it 😉 Humans have an incredible capacity to deal with whatever is thrown at them (in this case, two remarkably sweet and adorable little boys); but, being the mother of one, there are many days when I feel maxed and I could not even imagine the chaos². All you amazing Moms and Dads out there, give yourselves a pat on your back and a hug to your kids 😉
