This is part one of a two part series for this scrumptious family. They are avid surfers so part two is going to involve sand, surf and snuggles but we wanted to get some images of the first days at home too. There is something so special about those first couple of weeks of settling in as a family. You enter a cocoon and your entire world exists within the four walls of your house. Hours pass just staring at your baby and nothing feels so rewarding. And the love. Oh the love.
The last two months have been such an incredibly wonderful and horrid journey. On May.3rd, I woke up in the middle of the night and the world was spinning (imagine drunk spins but times it by a thousand). Honestly, I thought I was dying from a brain aneurysm. It felt that wrong. I couldn’t stop throwing up. I called my parents to take me to the hospital so Gene could stay home with Ella. When we got to the hospital, the doctor said it was an inner-ear infection and, since it was viral, I just had to wait it out….
I just had a lovely pregnancy shoot with Fiona. She was gorgeous and radiant. I can’t wait to meet her little one! We already have plans to do the baby photo shoot. It is so neat being able to capture little ones throughout their first year of life as they change so quickly. So I finally got to meet my darling nephew! My brother, his wife and their 7 month old son Graden live in Singapore which means that their current visit home to Canada marks my first introduction to the CUTEST little boy in the world. I had a great time shooting Lynne and Brendan’s engagement photos. They are such a blast to work with. I’m REALLY excited about shooting their big day coming up at the end of May at Hatley Castle. The castle and grounds are my favorite location to shoot at and with folks as fabulous as these it is sure to be one to remember!
What a fun project this was! Look at all those fabulous faces. This was a spur of the moment, thrown together in a day project that I just love! Not only did I get to see all my favorite people while shooting them, now I can look at all their mugs anytime I want to make my day brighter. Thanks everyone!!
