Just after we bought our big old creaky heritage house, I was walking down the sidewalk behind two boys of about 7 and I heard one say to the other “there’s the haunted house” in reference to our dear old home. Every year since, I have wanted to REALLY hauntify it for Halloween but my hours were somehow always filled with other adventures. I was immediately intrigued when I got a fantastic call from a man named Andrew. He wanted me to go stealth and photograph him proposing to his beautiful (unsuspecting) girlfriend. After the proposal I would come out of hiding to do a photo shoot for a couple hours. He is super romantic and he wanted an over-the-top amazing place for it all to happen. This was a really fun and dear shoot for me. Brianna’s grandmother is an incredibly talented knitter and has made gorgeous sweaters for all the new arrivals in her and her daughters’ lives over the last many years. I was so touched to receive one when my Ella was born. Hand-made gifts are always the most precious and I think of the creators everytime I use them. A year ago yesterday I was breathing in great big lungfuls of west coast forest air and marveling at the miracle of life with these two (three) incredible souls. It was a misty, foggy, and soul-rich day which seemed to reflect perfectly the lives of these body boarding, ocean loving, tree-planters.
