Tutus have never been part of my repertoire. Growing up, I was a horse girl through and through. Which meant that I was usually mucky and smelly. Quite far removed from the delicate loveliness of dance recitals and ballet shoes. So I have never related to the tutu and thus it never occurred to me to put a tutu on a munchkin. But then this little darling showed up wearing one and my heart melted into a little puddle of tutu adoration. Isn’t she scrumptious?

After last night’s incredible shows it was hard to imagine how tonight could keep up. I needn’t of worried. I started at the Alix Goolden Hall to catch Tegan and Sara. I have heard a lot of their music played on the Zone but I haven’t been following them beyond that. Their set tonight sure convinced me to pay a little more attention in the future. This is part one of a two part series for this scrumptious family. They are avid surfers so part two is going to involve sand, surf and snuggles but we wanted to get some images of the first days at home too. There is something so special about those first couple of weeks of settling in as a family. You enter a cocoon and your entire world exists within the four walls of your house. Hours pass just staring at your baby and nothing feels so rewarding. And the love. Oh the love.
What a fun project this was! Look at all those fabulous faces. This was a spur of the moment, thrown together in a day project that I just love! Not only did I get to see all my favorite people while shooting them, now I can look at all their mugs anytime I want to make my day brighter. Thanks everyone!!
I want to start with a great big thanks to Atomique for putting on such great shows and making the Victoria music scene what it is. I went down to the Save-On Foods Memorial Centre last night to photograph the Metric show. It was great to finally see them live (well, the first three songs anyway).
