Something about that tutu.

Tutus have never been part of my repertoire. Growing up, I was a horse girl through and through. Which meant that I was usually mucky and smelly. Quite far removed from the delicate loveliness of dance recitals and ballet shoes. So I have never related to the tutu and thus it never occurred to me to put a tutu on a munchkin. But then this little darling showed up wearing one and my heart melted into a little puddle of tutu adoration. Isn’t she scrumptious?

  • Family fun in Goldstream

One of my favorite parts of my job is getting to document the evolution of families. It wasn’t something I thought about when I was starting out but now that I have had clients come back to me year after year, I really cherish the times I get to catch up with them and see how beautifully their families have grown. This family is no exception. My last shoot with them was at Beacon Hill park last year. You can check out the images from that shoot here. This year we hung out and played at Goldstream. Ahhhh, Goldstream in the…

  • Devil’s Night

Just after we bought our big old creaky heritage house, I was walking down the sidewalk behind two boys of about 7 and I heard one say to the other “there’s the haunted house” in reference to our dear old home. Every year since, I have wanted to REALLY hauntify it for Halloween but my hours were somehow always filled with other adventures. Well, this year that glorious dream was finally realized 😉 We decked it out from porch to roof with red lights, cobwebs, dismembered doll parts, vultures and dry ice in a witch’s cauldron. Since Halloween fell on…

  • Pender Island Wedding

Here is a “quick” sneak peek of Theresa and Witek’s wedding on Pender Island. It was so hard to pick just a few as this was such a gorgeous and unique wedding. Not only were the bride and groom stunning but the setting was brilliant as well. Theresa’s family has been on Pender since the late 1800’s (I love that!). Her father used to fly Theresa in his airplane and land on the private airfield seen in some of the photos below. I loved that the backdrop of their wedding had such personal history and meaning to them. Theresa &…

  • Behind the scenes of the Bella Bella trip.

My trip to Bella Bella involved beautiful landscapes, good friends, small world run-ins, and fabulous boat rides. Thank you, Yoey, for being such a wonderful friend, host, and inspiration. It was so great seeing your place and all the incredibly beautiful work you have put into it. It is a little slice of heaven. Thank you, Anna, for being such a fun, passionate, and thought-provoking friend and adventure buddy. I look forward to our next project. • Confession Time

I have a confession to make. I love them all best of all. They are all my favorites. I can’t help it. All the babies and children that come to me to get photographed are perfect in their own amazing, individual ways. I can’t help but fall in love with each and every one that walks through the studio doors. William is my favorite because he reminds me of Superman 😉

  • A shining soul creates new life.

Some women glow when they are pregnant. Calico beams. Although I have it on good authority that it is not just when she is pregnant. Calico is one of those people that have you grinning and laughing and loving life. You can’t help it. Her joy just rubs off. Her energy was such a treat to shoot. Another treat was the sweet sweet light that happened upon us as we climbed the hill. Thanks Calico for such a fun evening. I am so excited about the shoot part deux when your little bambino arrives. xoxo
