Mud Girls Cob Building Workshop

I spent an incredible week on Salt Spring Island at a Mud Girls Cob Building Workshop. The Mud Girls are about promoting and enabling the construction of natural building (mostly cob) affordably. A group of about twenty of us came together to live as a community for a week and build a cob cabin. We all camped in a beautiful apple orchard, swam/bathed in the pond, and were treated to three delicious organic meals a day (the chefs were brilliant! mmmmm). In return, we worked our butts off…literally! They were long, hot, hard days but so rewarding! One of the really amazing things was that almost all of the people that came to participate were mothers that brought their children. The Mud Girls said that they would provide free childcare and I think all of us moms jumped at the chance to really throw ourselves into a project while our kids were entertained. Well entertained they were! Paula, who looked after the kids, is a superwoman. I have honestly never witnessed someone so fantastic and engaging with kids. Paula, you are my hero! Molly and Claire, who taught the cob building, were not only awesome women but great teachers and mentors. I can’t recommend the workshop enough. Not to sound dramatic but it was life-changing. Last night in Vic, DJ Champion and his G-Strings took the stage at Sugar. It is impossible for my words to do justice to the killer performance they gave. If they ever stop in your town, GO SEE THEM! They are what live shows are all about. The incredible energy they brought to the stage was infectious and the packed crowd couldn’t get enough. DJ Champion does fabulous builds that take you from a toe tappin’ head bob to a thumping, jumping, super-happy dance. You can’t help it. It just happens. Nobody in the place could resist their charms. Check…

  • Tracy & Jonathon- Victoria, BC Wedding Photo Gallery by Keri Coles Photography

Tracy & Jonathon’s wedding was a stunning event held at the Olympic View Golf Course. The course gave the gift of incredible backdrops and we zipped down to Whitty’s Lagoon to get some ocean shots as well. Tracy and Jonathon are just a dream to work with and they have raised one of the most amazing young ladies I have ever met. Thanks so much for welcoming us into your wedding day T & J!

  • Fall Family Photos

I totally adore shooting children and families. The love and playfulness is so inspiring and I always feel so privileged to be there capturing it “on film”. I have to admit this is one of my favorite families as the boys are sweet and stunning and their obvious love for each other is so stinkin’ adorable! Here are some images from our recent shoot in the park.

  • A year ago yesterday.

A year ago yesterday I was breathing in great big lungfuls of west coast forest air and marveling at the miracle of life with these two (three) incredible souls. It was a misty, foggy, and soul-rich day which seemed to reflect perfectly the lives of these body boarding, ocean loving, tree-planters. These two are the force behind the brilliant work of Goose Goose Revolution. They also went on to have the cutest baby on the face of the planet, mine not included 😉 Scroll to the end to see their greatest masterpiece, Sacha. I love you, my wonderful friends! I…

  • Lisa & Nathan’s Wedding

Lisa and Nathan’s wedding was such a perfect blend of elegance, sophistication, intimacy and serenity. They were married at Fairholme Manor which was an ideal location for their small, private wedding. The grounds are gorgeous and the interior of the heritage house is a photographer’s dream. Lisa’s Maid of Honour (and sister) created the brilliant floral arrangements. The reception was at one of my favorite restaurants in town, Camille’s. The food, which is organic and sourced as locally as possible, is to die for. Every bite is a little piece of heaven. Lisa & Nathan, thank you so much for…

  • Mighty Quinn

I am 100% completely in love with the name Quinn, and here the name couldn’t be attached to a more perfect baby. For the record, Quinn was on my name list for my own child but my husband vetoed it so I’m thrilled that it lives on in another close to me! I love watching young children interact with their new baby siblings. These times are so precious. My heart melted at the photo below where Owen is counting Quinn’s toes. So cute! The table that Quinn is on in the latter pictures was made by her grandfather. It holds…
