I went down and photographed Jon & Roy’s CD Release Party show for their new album “Homes“. The MacPherson Playhouse was packed and the show rocked the house. Everyone was on their feet at the end of the show begging for more. Vince Vaccaro and Mother Mother opened for Jon & Roy. I gotta say…those three bands in one show make Keri a very happy girl 😉
Gene and I took Ella to Asia when she was 3.5 months old. I will forever be grateful for the experiences we had there, especially as new parents navigating the waters of “how to be a good parent”. Being immersed in other cultures while we were raw and evolving in our new roles was such a gift. We got to witness over and over again that a “norm” is culturally based and not static, which gave us the courage to challenge assumptions and norms from back home. I flew to Bella Bella yesterday to witness and photograph the Joint Review Panel Hearings being held there for Enbridge’s Northern Gateway Pipeline. Sharing my flight were the panel members as well as Heiltsuk’s high ranking Chief Woyala. The community came to the airport to greet their chief and to stand in solidarity against the pipeline. The demonstration was powerful, respectful, and peaceful. The panel members were taken in a van from the airport into town and over to a resort called Shearwater. I had a shoot last year around this time with Dr.S the dentist who worked it for the camera (he definitley picked up some tips from Tyra when his daughter was watching ANTM). Some people just have that camera zen, that ease with themselves that makes for spectacular images. I can vouch that this family has that quality in at least two of its generations. First of all, I would like to give a big shout out to all parents of twins. You are an amazing bunch. I don’t know how you do it 😉 Humans have an incredible capacity to deal with whatever is thrown at them (in this case, two remarkably sweet and adorable little boys); but, being the mother of one, there are many days when I feel maxed and I could not even imagine the chaos². All you amazing Moms and Dads out there, give yourselves a pat on your back and a hug to your kids 😉
This is my first attempt at stop motion photography. It was a blast and I’m already plotting our next adventure. It’s all a learning process but I thought I’d share the journey with you!
