My good friend Erin came by with her two kids as well as her sister’s two girls to get some photos for Christmas. What a gorgeous group they are! In 2010 Gene and I bought a share in a grain co-op that was being hosted by Makaria Farms just outside Duncan. We learned how to plant, grow and harvest grain. At the end of the season we were rewarded with harvests of organic Red Fife, Spring Wheat, and Rye. True Grain Bread, the fabulous organic bakery in Cowichan Bay was kind enough to let us use their gorgeous stone grain mill to grind our grain into flour. I just had the Lucas family back for another wonderful photo shoot. Philippe’s mother was in town so it was a great chance to capture the magical bond between grandmother and granddaughter. This is the third year I have taken family photos for Jen and Stu. I always have a blast as they are some of my favorite people 🙂 This year we had the bonus of their latest addition, Lukas. This was a really fun shoot. The old motorcycle that Graden is riding used to be ridden by his father 32 years ago. With that in mind I went with a a bit of a vintage look on a lot of the photos. Graden sure is a looker, especially with that little page boy cap. So cute! The last few frames are of his adorable cousin 😉
This is part one of a two part series for this scrumptious family. They are avid surfers so part two is going to involve sand, surf and snuggles but we wanted to get some images of the first days at home too. There is something so special about those first couple of weeks of settling in as a family. You enter a cocoon and your entire world exists within the four walls of your house. Hours pass just staring at your baby and nothing feels so rewarding. And the love. Oh the love.
