Jay & Rachel’s Wedding

As I am gearing up for another wedding season, I find a little time to reflect on the joy and unique moments from last year’s weddings. It is such a privilege to be a part of these celebrations of love. I just adore that I get to do this for a living. I am extremely invested in the love stories of all of my clients, and it is especially so when I get the opportunity to photograph the love story of a dear friend.
Jay and I have been running buddies (although I must admit Jay is much more dedicated than I). In fact, Jay is a personal hero of mine. I have never met another individual that has so successfully had the dedication and drive to make dramatically positive chances in his life. I will forever be in awe of him.
I had met Rachel a couple times before the wedding but wedding day was the first time I felt I really got to connect with her and witness her in all her beauty and grace. It made me so happy to know that my friend was marrying such an incredibly lovely human.

    Some women glow when they are pregnant. Calico beams. Although I have it on good authority that it is not just when she is pregnant. Calico is one of those people that have you grinning and laughing and loving life. You can’t help it. Her joy just rubs off. Her energy was such a treat to shoot. Another treat was the sweet sweet light that happened upon us as we climbed the hill. Thanks Calico for such a fun evening.   • The exceedingly lovely Violet

    When I arrived at this shoot I was feeling ill and little Violet had skipped her nap so there was concern that things may not run very smoothly. In the end, we both made it through and I am in love with the images that Violet created 😉 She was not her usual smiley self but she was content so the images that resulted have a neat introspective feel to them.   • A stitch in time.

    This was a really fun and dear shoot for me. Brianna’s grandmother is an incredibly talented knitter and has made gorgeous sweaters for all the new arrivals in her and her daughters’ lives over the last many years. I was so touched to receive one when my Ella was born. Hand-made gifts are always the most precious and I think of the creators everytime I use them. When I heard that Brianna was on the way I asked if Mrs.Fathers would half knit a blanket so we could do a shoot around it and honour all that she has done…

    I totally adore shooting children and families. The love and playfulness is so inspiring and I always feel so privileged to be there capturing it “on film”. I have to admit this is one of my favorite families as the boys are sweet and stunning and their obvious love for each other is so stinkin’ adorable!
