Lawyers in Love

Amanda & Brian got married in a gorgeous ceremony in Hawaii. Not everyone could make the trip down though so they also wanted to throw a reception party in Victoria. That’s when I got a call from Amanda. Because this fabulous couple live in Ohio we didn’t get a chance to meet until the day of the party. While this situation sometimes makes me nervous as I prefer  getting to know each other beforehand, I was amazed upon meeting these two that it felt like we had been friends for years. We had such a blast hanging out with them for the day, capturing their infectious smiles, and enjoying their irresistible banter. The saying “couples that laugh together, last together” comes to mind as these two clearly adore each other’s company and wit, as did we 😉  The reception featured an incredible lion dance as well as a much-loved photobooth!

A big thanks to Nicole Brown for second shooting for me. She is such a dream to work with. My dear sister from another mister. xoxo

Reception was held at Don Mee Restaurant

It was so moving being up at the rally in Prince Rupert and seeing community come together with such solidarity against the Enbridge pipeline. Many remote and coastal communities depend directly on the lands and waters for their food, livelihood, and cultural practices. If there was a spill in the area, it would not just be an inconvenience, it would completely desecrate the way of life for thousands of people, not to mention sealife and wildlife. In opposing the pipeline, these communities are fighting for their lives. One of the reasons I feel so strongly about getting personally involved as…

  • Jay & Rachel’s Wedding

As I am gearing up for another wedding season, I find a little time to reflect on the joy and unique moments from last year’s weddings. It is such a privilege to be a part of these celebrations of love. I just adore that I get to do this for a living. I am extremely invested in the love stories of all of my clients, and it is especially so when I get the opportunity to photograph the love story of a dear friend. Jay and I have been running buddies (although I must admit Jay is much more dedicated…

  • The twins

First of all, I would like to give a big shout out to all parents of twins. You are an amazing bunch. I don’t know how you do it 😉 Humans have an incredible capacity to deal with whatever is thrown at them (in this case, two remarkably sweet and adorable little boys); but, being the mother of one, there are many days when I feel maxed and I could not even imagine the chaos². All you amazing Moms and Dads out there, give yourselves a pat on your back and a hug to your kids 😉

  • Beloved Japan. Part II- Action.

I am only one, but I am one. I cannot do everything, but I can do something. And I will not let what I cannot do interfere with what I can do. ~Edward Everett Hale This quote really struck a chord with me. The recent events in Japan have been so tragic and overwhelming. I had trouble carrying on as usual because so many people were no longer able. I reached a point though when I realized that my empathy was resulting in personal immobility and not useful action. As you can imagine, that wasn’t helping anyone. So I brainstormed…
