Haida Carver – Lyle Campbell

When I was up in Prince Rupert for the rally, I spent Friday just wandering around. I came across Lyle Campbell’s carving studio and went in to check out his amazing work. I love spending time with artists and witnessing the process of creation. Lyle’s fiance Kim was there as well, painting. I was grateful for the opportunity to hang out and chat and capture them in action. They are such a lovely couple. Be sure to check out their studio if you are ever in the area! You can see Lyle talking about his art here.

Day 3 of Rifflandia is about to begin and while I will be posting images shortly from tons of incredibly talented bands that are playing Riff this year, this post is dedicated to The Flaming Lips. If there was a roof on Royal Athletic Park, it would have been blown last night. I know our minds were.

  • Magical moments.

Here are a few magical moments from Stephanie & Brian’s wedding day. I cannot express in words the gratitude and warmth that I feel for this couple. Stephanie & Brian first met with me and subsequently hired me while I was still dealing with my inner ear issues and vertigo. Even though their wedding was a few months away I had no idea whether I would be healthy for it (I am still so jubilant and grateful that I am healed!). When they said they wanted to book me I replied that I totally appreciated their support and confidence but…

  • A stitch in time.

This was a really fun and dear shoot for me. Brianna’s grandmother is an incredibly talented knitter and has made gorgeous sweaters for all the new arrivals in her and her daughters’ lives over the last many years. I was so touched to receive one when my Ella was born. Hand-made gifts are always the most precious and I think of the creators everytime I use them. When I heard that Brianna was on the way I asked if Mrs.Fathers would half knit a blanket so we could do a shoot around it and honour all that she has done…

  • Leanne & Taylor

What a beautiful day it is was for Leanne & Taylor’s wedding! While I tend to fall in love with all my clients, L&T kicked it up a notch by keeping me in stitches all day long. My stomach and face hurt at the end of the day from all the laughing. Thank you so much, Leanne and Taylor, for having us there on your most amazing day. Thanks, Shealyn, for capturing the day with me! The beautiful ceremony and reception were held at the Westin at Bear Mountain and the wedding party photos were taken at the historical Fort…
