Club Kwench – An evening with The Jealous Curator

Tessa McLoughlin is a local hero of mine. She possesses not only exceptional vision in regards to arts and community but also the follow through to turn that vision into reality. Last night’s inaugural Club Kwench dinner was a prime example. Club Kwench grew out of Tessa’s belief that happiness comes from many angles and that it is not readymade. “It comes from your own actions. Kwench makes those actions easier by providing you with experiences that encourage and cultivate connection, curiosity, and cooperation.”

Last night was a brilliant evening of connection, inspiration, laughter, nourishment, and creativity, which all led to a house full to the brim with happiness. The brilliant and witty Jealous Curator came to speak, we dined on Alison Bigg’s delicious curry and Kid Sister’s popsicles, and laughed until our bellies hurt. I can’t wait for the next Kwench event.

  • Something about that tutu.

Tutus have never been part of my repertoire. Growing up, I was a horse girl through and through. Which meant that I was usually mucky and smelly. Quite far removed from the delicate loveliness of dance recitals and ballet shoes. So I have never related to the tutu and thus it never occurred to me to put a tutu on a munchkin. But then this little darling showed up wearing one and my heart melted into a little puddle of tutu adoration. Isn’t she scrumptious?

  • The inner ear and a big timeout.

The last two months have been such an incredibly wonderful and horrid journey. On May.3rd, I woke up in the middle of the night and the world was spinning (imagine drunk spins but times it by a thousand). Honestly, I thought I was dying from a brain aneurysm. It felt that wrong. I couldn’t stop throwing up. I called my parents to take me to the hospital so Gene could stay home with Ella. When we got to the hospital, the doctor said it was an inner-ear infection and, since it was viral, I just had to wait it out….

This was a really fun shoot. The old motorcycle that Graden is riding used to be ridden by his father 32 years ago. With that in mind I went with a a bit of a vintage look on a lot of the photos. Graden sure is a looker, especially with that little page boy cap. So cute! The last few frames are of his adorable cousin 😉

  • Devil’s Night

Just after we bought our big old creaky heritage house, I was walking down the sidewalk behind two boys of about 7 and I heard one say to the other “there’s the haunted house” in reference to our dear old home. Every year since, I have wanted to REALLY hauntify it for Halloween but my hours were somehow always filled with other adventures. Well, this year that glorious dream was finally realized 😉 We decked it out from porch to roof with red lights, cobwebs, dismembered doll parts, vultures and dry ice in a witch’s cauldron. Since Halloween fell on…
