A moving celebration of life was held at Thunderbird to honour his life and accomplishments. Everyone’s eyes were misty when the riderless horse came into the ring, led by George’s grandson.   • Something about that tutu.

    Tutus have never been part of my repertoire. Growing up, I was a horse girl through and through. Which meant that I was usually mucky and smelly. Quite far removed from the delicate loveliness of dance recitals and ballet shoes. So I have never related to the tutu and thus it never occurred to me to put a tutu on a munchkin. But then this little darling showed up wearing one and my heart melted into a little puddle of tutu adoration. Isn’t she scrumptious?

    I had a couple incredibly brilliant work trips this year: a ship tour with Greenpeace and a trip to Paris to cover the UN Climate Conference. In contrast to some years past, it was a fairly uplifting year to be doing environmental work in Canada (Shell pulled out of the Arctic, Canada got a new government, Northern Gateway was killed, and the Paris Climate talks are being lauded by most as a success).     Amanda & Brian got married in a gorgeous ceremony in Hawaii. Not everyone could make the trip down though so they also wanted to throw a reception party in Victoria. That’s when I got a call from Amanda. Because this fabulous couple live in Ohio we didn’t get a chance to meet until the day of the party. While this situation sometimes makes me nervous as I prefer  getting to know each other beforehand, I was amazed upon meeting these two that it felt like we had been friends for years.
