Beloved Japan. Part II- Action.

I am only one, but I am one. I cannot do everything, but I can do something. And I will not let what I cannot do interfere with what I can do. ~Edward Everett Hale

This quote really struck a chord with me.

The recent events in Japan have been so tragic and overwhelming. I had trouble carrying on as usual because so many people were no longer able. I reached a point though when I realized that my empathy was resulting in personal immobility and not useful action. As you can imagine, that wasn’t helping anyone. So I brainstormed ways that I could help and this is what I came up with:

For 2011, 100% of the profits from my photo cards will be donated to the Red Cross. Please click on the image below to access the online ordering gallery.  Instead of grabbing your cards at a store this year, consider buying them here to support relief efforts by the Red Cross.

I would like to thank you all in advance for considering helping out our neighbours. For more information on the Red Cross, check out their website here.

xoxo

Keri

Details: Cards are $5 each, 10 for $30 or 25 for $50.  The cards are beautiful photos on high quality cardstock and come with envelopes. You can pick and choose which images you would like in the packs of cards (if you buy the packs make sure you chose the “photo package” option under the Buy drop-down menu to enjoy the discount pricing). I would be happy to add text to the photos if you are wanting them for particular celebrations or if you would like to use them as thank yous or business send-outs. When purchasing it will mention a three week wait but the cards will actually be ready in a week. Click image below to see photo options.

  • Beautiful & Brilliant Bif.

I was pleasantly surprised to see Bif Naked up at the Prince Rupert rally. I had never seen her live before. She has a casual and intimate air about her that made it feel like she was playing for us in her living room. For someone that has had to face some major challenges in her life, it is apparent that she rolls with the punches and comes out smiling. I will definitely try to catch her show again.

  • Confession Time

I have a confession to make. I love them all best of all. They are all my favorites. I can’t help it. All the babies and children that come to me to get photographed are perfect in their own amazing, individual ways. I can’t help but fall in love with each and every one that walks through the studio doors. William is my favorite because he reminds me of Superman 😉

  • Bella Bella rally against Enbridge pipeline.

I flew to Bella Bella yesterday to witness and photograph the Joint Review Panel Hearings being held there for Enbridge’s Northern Gateway Pipeline. Sharing my flight were the panel members as well as Heiltsuk’s high ranking Chief Woyala. The community came to the airport to greet their chief and to stand in solidarity against the pipeline. The demonstration was powerful, respectful, and peaceful. The panel members were taken in a van from the airport into town and over to a resort called Shearwater.  The rest of us walked into town where there was a feast, speeches, and dancing. The afternoon was a moving…

  • Organic Islands Festival

It was a fabulous weekend at Organic Islands Festival. There are always lots of great vendors that support and inspire sustainability. The reason I love the festival the most is the incredible speakers that come to share their wealth of knowledge. Percy Schmeiser was the highlight for me at the Festival in 2008.  His story is one to know. He is fighting a battle on our behalf. A battle that’s final outcome will not directly effect his life, but it will effect ours. He is devoting his time, money, life energy and integrity to protect our right to save seeds and…

  • Pender Island Wedding

Here is a “quick” sneak peek of Theresa and Witek’s wedding on Pender Island. It was so hard to pick just a few as this was such a gorgeous and unique wedding. Not only were the bride and groom stunning but the setting was brilliant as well. Theresa’s family has been on Pender since the late 1800’s (I love that!). Her father used to fly Theresa in his airplane and land on the private airfield seen in some of the photos below. I loved that the backdrop of their wedding had such personal history and meaning to them. Theresa &…
