I recently photographed Rob Kettner of Fernwood Coffee doing his magic. He was fine-tuning his skills and delivery for the Canadian Barista Championship. Just after I did the shoot he went on to win said competition ๐Ÿ˜‰ Way to go, Rob!!!

  • A Special Type of Love.

I pulled an old Remington from my typewriter collection for this special session. Baby Nathan’s great-grandmother was a published poet and she always did her writing on a typewriter. Nathan’s mom has lots of memories of playing away and learning how to type at her grandmother’s. Sadly, while Nathan was still in his mama’s belly, his great-grandmother passed away. We thought this shoot would make a fitting tribute to her.

  • ANTI-POP CONSORTIUM

I was pretty excited about heading down to Lucky bar to photograph Anti-Pop Consortium. I had heard lots of great stuff about them and their lyrics and sound are brilliant.ย The show was great but to be honest I was a little distracted by the fact that my camera loved them ๐Ÿ˜‰ The first images are of TBA (Truth Becomes Audio) who opened for them. Props to them for giving 100% commitment to their performance. They were a little over-concerned about burning their name into our brains but they were fairly clever and funny about it which made it forgivable. There…

  • Beloved Japan. Part II- Action.

I am only one, but I am one. I cannot do everything, but I can do something. And I will not let what I cannot do interfere with what I can do. ~Edward Everett Hale This quote really struck a chord with me. The recent events in Japan have been so tragic and overwhelming. I had trouble carrying on as usual because so many people were no longer able. I reached a point though when I realized that my empathy was resulting in personal immobility and not useful action. As you can imagine, that wasn’t helping anyone. So I brainstormed…

  • Lisa & Nathan’s Wedding

Lisa and Nathan’s wedding was such a perfect blend of elegance, sophistication, intimacy and serenity. They were married at Fairholme Manor which was an ideal location for their small, private wedding. The grounds are gorgeous and the interior of the heritage house is a photographer’s dream. Lisa’s Maid of Honour (and sister) created the brilliant floral arrangements. The reception was at one of my favorite restaurants in town, Camille’s. The food, which is organic and sourced as locally as possible, is to die for. Every bite is a little piece of heaven. Lisa & Nathan, thank you so much for…

  • Organic Islands Festival

It was a fabulous weekend at Organic Islands Festival. There are always lots of great vendors that support and inspire sustainability. The reason I love the festival the most is the incredible speakers that come to share their wealth of knowledge. Percy Schmeiser was the highlight for me at the Festival in 2008.ย ย His story is one to know. He is fighting a battle on our behalf. A battle that’s final outcome will not directly effect his life, but it will effect ours. He is devoting his time, money, life energy and integrity to protect our right to save seeds and…

  • Devil’s Night

Just after we bought our big old creaky heritage house, I was walking down the sidewalk behind two boys of about 7 and I heard one say to the other “there’s the haunted house” in reference to our dear old home. Every year since, I have wanted to REALLY hauntify it for Halloween but my hours were somehow always filled with other adventures. Well, this year that glorious dream was finally realized ๐Ÿ˜‰ We decked it out from porch to roof with red lights, cobwebs, dismembered doll parts, vultures and dry ice in a witch’s cauldron. Since Halloween fell on…
